Payroll Administrator
The Role
Hutchison Ports (UK) - Port of Felixstowe is the largest deep-water Port in the UK and to support our continued growth and development we are looking to recruit a Payroll Administrator to join our Finance Department.
Directly reporting into the Payroll Manager, the role will be to maintain the payroll systems for the below businesses as allocated: FDRC (Felixstowe Dock & Rail Company) Monthly, FDRC Weekly, Thamesport (London) Ltd., Felixstowe Port Container Services, FDRC Port Operatives and Harwich International Monthly.
Key Requirements
- Ensuring that employees are to be paid correctly and on time, whilst maintaining records, arranging potential third-party payments within strict statutory and company deadlines.
- Asked to arrange the allocation of salary payments for then the relevant payrolls.
- At times, processing BACS payments for weekly/monthly payrolls and Purchase ledger Payment runs.
- Producing and processing all third-party payments, for their specific and relevant payroll, via ResourceLink.
- Calculating and requesting the authorisation for monthly Inland Revenue payments, submitting these electronically through ResourceLink and reconciling PAYE figures both period by period and at the tax year end.
- Reporting payments to the Finance Department, whilst also preparing monthly reconciling journals within strict statutory and company deadlines.
- Calculating adjustments for new starters, leavers as well as job changes, making sure the details being entered are inputted correctly to the payroll systems.
- Working with overtime sheets and other temporary input for entry into the payroll systems.
- Reviewing absence reports, calculating and processing absence related adjustments to pay and payment of Statutory Sick pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity pay and Statutory Paternity pay.
Who are we looking for?
Suitable applicants should meet the following criteria:
Essential:
- GCSE in Maths & English A-C grades (or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of Payroll System(s), Payroll Reporting, Labour Management Systems and an understanding of Working Agreements.
- Knowledge of salary-related legislation and Employment Law.
- Previous experience working within a payroll setting.
Desirable:
- Achieved or currently working towards an IPPM qualification Payroll Supervision or similar.
- Excellent computer skills.
