At Hutchison Ports UK we recognise that the passion and commitment of the people who work here are the key to our success; we strive for an adaptable and motivated workforce who are supported by a dedicated and results-focused management team.

There are opportunities to join the port through a number of channels, offering various development paths:
- As a port operative, you will receive in depth job-based training provided by our accredited training assessors to operate an extensive range of plant and machinery
- As an apprentice, you will receive a combination of practical and academic training to meet the rigorous standards of the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship scheme
- As an experienced professional, you will work in a range of operational and business disciplines such as Engineering, Container Operations, IT, HR and Finance
- As a manager in various areas of the business you will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of the UK’s freight industry and participate in coaching and mentoring schemes

At Hutchison Ports UK, our aim is to provide a career, not just a job. The management of performance and individual development is a critical aspect to maintaining our success. We work with you to agree a clear and demanding set of objectives designed not only to match our business objectives but also, to enable you to achieve your full potential. Our relationship with Unite the Union remains central to our goal of delivering the sustained change required to drive our business forward.
We offer a supportive, community environment and have been awarded the Diversity in Maritime Charter Certification (prv. known as Women in Maritime). Alongside this we have our own Women’s Network and have launched our Diversity and Inclusion Committee, who are actively engaged in embedding positive changes across the business.

We encourage all employees to contribute to the development of our business by working collaboratively, and sharing their views both formally, and informally. Our pioneering spirit has driven the growth of our port since it was first established, and has today helped to position Hutchison Ports UK as a leader in its field and the UK’s largest container terminal.
