Role Purpose

Passionate about software? Yes, so are we. Come and talk to us, we're nice!

We’re looking for an Engineer to join our Execution Management System team who are focused on growing Iress' financial market trading products globally. You will contribute to the design, development, delivery and support of business solutions, working as part of a talented and motivated cross functional engineering team where you will develop, maintain and support Iress' services.

Who are we?

The Execution Management System (EMS) is a trading message hub connecting clients to various different venue types (RSP, DMA, Exchanges, Funds) as well as providing order minding and execution management functionality.

Working within the trading domain as part of an existing team to support EMS, you will contribute to the design, development, delivery and support of the application adhering to Iress’ software development life cycle and development process.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on...

  • The design and development of software components within a defined quality standard

  • Resolving issues, defects and queries raised at any phase of development or production

  • Following configuration management processes to deploy code

  • Conducting quality reviews of own deliverables

  • Contributing to sizing on technical development tasks

  • Reporting on progress and effective issue resolution through escalation

  • Mentoring and coaching junior engineers

  • Supporting and maintaining the application you are building (DevOps)

To be successful in this role you will…

This role would suit someone who is keen to remain a hands on Developer but also enjoys sharing their knowledge and skill with others, coaching and mentoring more junior members of the team and wider business.

You’ll be working with a variety of technologies utilising C#, JavaScript, AWS, .NET core, Buildkite, eventbased systems and SQL to contribute to the design and development of our software. Life at Iress is fast paced but provides both a collaborative and supportive environment in which to get the job done. Quality is key for us! You will be required to conduct quality reviews of your own deliverables as well as deliverables from your peers to ensure we're creating the best software possible, this will also involve taking an active involvement in unit testing and getting involved in resolving issues, defects and queries raised at any phase of development.

Our clients are at the heart of what we do and you will be involved in providing client support where necessary to keep them in the loop with what we're doing. You will need to be able to think on your feet, work under pressure and be confident working in a reactive environment.

Knowledge and experience of developing within an object-oriented development environment, using Agile methodologies is essential and you’ll ideally have a background in developing service-oriented architectures with a solid understanding of good design principles.

A working knowledge of Cloud technologies, ideally AWS, would be highly beneficial and some understanding of the financial services industry (specifically across Financial Markets and Trading) would be a bonus but this isn’t essential.

Strong communication skills are key and you’ll need to be comfortable liaising with both technical and non technical colleagues as well as clients directly, with experience of seeing a project through the life cycle of development and into production.
