About the Role
As a Junior Technical Consultant - Hosting role is part of the specialist Consultancy team who create, maintain and support client implementation pipelines and hosted environments through to Production. This includes support for our cloud hosted environments and live service, as well as providing appropriate expert advice, guidance and support to those clients that self-host.
The role involves working across one or more client projects or client workstreams and will involve working on client sites as required. A flexible approach to working hours will be required as Production environments operate on a 7 day a week basis, necessitating out of hours and on-call work from time to time to meet business needs.
At this level you will be expected to actively collaborate with key stakeholders to understand, design, and optimise technical solutions, and will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence across both new and existing customer engagements.
Iress has a strong client service ethos and the role will require you to start to build relationships with client technical and internal client delivery and engineering teams to ensure that the consultancy team provides a first class service internally and externally.
You will be responsive to needs from internal and external clients in good time, and support all technical aspects of environment and pipeline management, infrastructure, deployment and support.
Accountabilities & Deliverables
Collaborating with other teams, understanding their problem statements and assisting in managing client releases
Actively engage with cross-functional teams to understand, diagnose, and resolve client challenges
Help to coordinate and support technical workshops with stakeholders, capturing minutes, and action items, seeing these through to completion
Serve as a mentor to Iress Technical Consultants at apprentice levels.
Supporting Iress Business and Technical Consultants
Working with clients, partners and internal development teams
Reviewing and improving internal processes, procedures and technical assurance steps required for delivery of our products and solutions
Provision and maintenance of Sales Demo and Sandbox environments as required
Supporting the development and maintenance of existing documentation including suitable presentations, documents, white papers and response libraries as required and create new documentation if necessary
Point of contact on and off site for technical guidance pre and post implementation
Understanding the Iress product set and being able to articulate their benefits to clients
Supporting the delivery of Iress products, including:
Internally to implementation and application support teams
Externally to clients whether Iress hosted or on premise
Working with clients to help resolve issues
Triage and defect analysis
Supporting the deployment processes including
Reviewing and suggesting process improvement
Implementing changes as recommended where approved
Technical ownership of the build process and internal environments as required
Managing the associated deployment documentation
Providing feedback on implementation and deployment
Providing feedback on areas of improvement within the MSO product
Helping to ensure that all technical decisions are ratified by the product team
Contributing to client’s end-to-end design documents
Contributing to Iress solution design documents

Core Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
Relevant degree or technical accreditation or qualifications.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and processes, build and release management toolsets
Ability to use building and virtualisation technologies e.g. Docker, K8s
Experience in developing scripts in numerous languages to automate frequently performed tasks
Familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows)
Good understanding of automated testing and deployment monitoring tools
Mindful of data security and server systems
Maintains a ‘Cloud-Centric mindset’ with experience in using the AWS platform
Excellent interpersonal skills to nurture the relationship between teams and encourage collaboration
Willing to learn new skills and technologies; positive, can-do attitude
Original thinker, able to adapt easily to new challenges
A Background that includes the following would be beneficial:
Experience of Financial services software products and services e.g. Financial Planning, Wealth Management, Mortgage processing, Credit Cards, Insurance
Experience of Microsoft C# and server-based technologies such as MVC / WebAPI and ASP.NET
Experience of RESTful and traditional Web Services on Microsoft and non-Microsoft platforms
Experience of Web technologies such as JavaScript / JSON, AJAX, HTML(5) and CSS
Experience of RDBMS – Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle and Stored Procedures, T-SQL
Experience of other application / software architectures, exposure to Object-oriented development and knowledge of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)
Experience in a DevOps / SRE environment, and/or of build/release engineering principles and practices
Experience of Cloud engineering and Infrastructure as Code, especially AWS, Terraform, Buildkite, SQL RDS etc
Experience of at least 1 project through the full life cycle
Understanding of modern technologies and specifically development and build of enterprise scale multi-tier web based solutions, ideally in a Microsoft .NET environment
