We launched Chase UK to transform mobile banking with seamless, customer-first digital experiences – and we're just getting started. With the trust of millions of customers in the US and rapid growth in the UK, we're building the bank of the future with a start-up mindset inside one of the world's most respected financial institutions. Joining us means you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact, grow your skills quickly, and help shape what modern banking looks like for customers across the globe. Whether you're contributing to a new feature, improving an existing journey, or learning from the talented engineers around you, your work will matter from day one.

As a Software Engineer III - Android at JPMorganChase within the International Consumer Bank, you will work as part of a collaborative, agile team focused on delivering high-quality mobile banking features for our Chase UK customers. You will contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of customer-facing Android applications, working closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders across the full software development lifecycle.

Job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help define, design, build, and release new Android mobile features that directly impact the customer experience
  • Develop and maintain clean, efficient, testable, and reusable Kotlin code aligned with modern Android engineering standards
  • Build intuitive user interfaces using modern Android technologies, including Jetpack Compose
  • Contribute to application testing strategies to help ensure reliability, performance, and quality across all customer journeys
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues in close partnership with fellow engineers
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and regular team collaboration to support continuous and predictable delivery
  • Communicate progress, blockers, and technical considerations clearly to team members and stakeholders across a geographically distributed organization
  • Engage in code reviews, applying and reinforcing engineering best practices across the team
  • Stay informed on emerging Android development trends, tools, libraries, and platform updates to bring fresh thinking to the team
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate design comprehension and coding support (e.g., drafting unit tests and documentation), validating outputs and handling data according to sensitivity and security requirements

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and expanding applied experience
  • Solid knowledge of Kotlin and modern Android development practices
  • Experience building Android applications using Jetpack Compose
  • Understanding of Android architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVI, or similar approaches

  • Understanding of REST APIs and how mobile applications integrate with backend services
  • Awareness of performance, accessibility, and security considerations in mobile development
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a genuine willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support software engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted code and technical recommendations before use, escalating when uncertain and following security and data handling requirements

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with React Native, TypeScript, or JavaScript for cross-platform mobile development
  • Exposure to iOS development using Swift
  • Familiarity with end-to-end testing tools such as Detox, Appium, or similar frameworks
  • Experience working with GraphQL APIs
  • Hands-on exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated mobile application delivery
