Be part of a team where your credit expertise will help shape important financing and risk decisions across Emerging Markets. You will work on a diverse and growing portfolio, gaining exposure to complex transactions, clients and products while partnering with teams across the region.

As a Vice President or Associate in the EMEA Emerging Markets Credit team, you will cover corporate and financial institution clients in the Emerging Europe region, with a particular focus on Turkey Corporates and Banks. This portfolio offers significant growth opportunities through local payments and lending expansion initiatives, as well as the continued build-out of the mid-cap portfolio. You will lead due diligence and credit analysis, drive credit memos and recommendations on structure, risk appetite and grading, and support documentation and negotiation through execution. You will also manage ongoing portfolio monitoring by assessing sector, client, macroeconomic and political developments and translating them into appropriate portfolio actions. You will work closely with business partners across the region on a broad range of products, including secured and unsecured loans, derivatives, trade and treasury products.

Job responsibilities

  • Act as the credit expert for a portfolio of clients in the region, with primary responsibility for credit exposure.
  • Manage clients across a range of industries, including corporates, financial institutions and sovereign-related entities, including monitoring credit ratings, sector trends and client performance.
  • Lead due diligence, credit analysis and financial modelling of credit counterparties, transactions and complex financing structures; drive the preparation of credit memos and make recommendations on appropriate structure, risk appetite and grading.
  • Work across a variety of products, including secured and unsecured loans, derivatives, trade and treasury products, and related documentation; lead the structuring, negotiation and execution of loan documentation, derivatives and other facilities.
  • Make sound credit recommendations and own credit approval decisions.
  • Balance a commercial and solution-driven mindset with a sound risk and controls attitude.
  • Track market and industry developments and their impact on clients, keeping up to date with the political and macroeconomic environment and maintaining in-depth knowledge of clients in the portfolio.
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level and foster team knowledge.
  • Lead a sub-team, coaching and training members of the Analyst and Associate community on both technical and professional skills.
  • Meet clients and lead due diligence meetings.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong analytical and credit skills and judgment, covering both qualitative and quantitative aspects.
  • Demonstrable product knowledge of a wide range of lending, derivative and treasury services products and associated documentation.
  • Strong team and project management skills, with the ability to take end-to-end ownership of work and projects.
  • Ability to take an active role in identifying key issues and concerns relating to clients, their industries and transaction structures.
  • Ability to establish credibility and trust with clients, internal business partners, product specialists and credit officers, and partner with them effectively.
  • Ability to foster relationships and confidently interact with origination teams and other internal stakeholders.
  • Self-starting, results-driven and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and apply a balanced risk-reward mindset.
  • Proven ability to coach and develop junior colleagues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and clarity of thinking when dealing with multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Significant experience in roles requiring relevant credit analysis and risk management skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Previous experience reviewing and commenting on loan documentation and core corporate derivatives documentation.
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in accounting, business, finance or a quantitative-related discipline.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to navigate financial models, as well as proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
