European Product Development and Documentation
The European Product Development and Documentation team sits within the Global Product Strategy and Development team and is responsible for developing and managing the documentation of JPMorgan Asset Management's Pan-European open-ended domiciled fund ranges which comprise over 225 funds across multiple umbrella structures, which are registered in over 36 countries globally with AUM in excess of $450 billion.
The team is structured into three core functions: Product Development, Product Documentation and Strategic Initiatives.
Key activities of the team include:
Product Development
- Facilitate cross-functional working groups to develop business cases for new product ideas and evaluate significant changes and enhancements to existing funds
- Review competitor offerings, offering technical insight, to facilitate the development of new product ideas in partnership with the broader Global Product Strategy and Development team
- Scope prioritised product ideas which include both new product ideas and enhancements/changes to existing funds, and mergers/liquidations of funds to facilitate review and approval through appropriate governance forums, including fund boards and regulators
- Bring new funds to market and implement changes to existing funds, managing across all functions within the business
- Define naming and pricing conventions and share class strategy
- Seed Capital and capacity management
Product Documentation
- In full partnership with product developers, produce market leading documentation that considers all legal, regulatory and technical issues
- Maintain consistency and quality across prospectuses through a robust quality control and oversight process that includes partnership with internal and external counsel
- Strategic oversight of global changes to the prospectuses and offering documents for all funds domiciled in Europe (excluding certain alternative products)
Strategic Initiatives
- Oversee and deliver the ongoing optimisation of the product range in partnership with the broader Global Product Strategy and Development team
- Develop technology solutions to create internal efficiency within the wider Product Development and Documentation team
- Assess the impact and manage the implementation of regulatory change across EMEA
Overview of the Role:
Reporting to the Head of the Product Development Team, the Product Development Manager will be part of a team of product development managers dedicated to managing all material product development initiatives for European domiciled funds across multiple asset classes and investment desks. The role sits within a wider team of approximately 16 product development and documentation professionals, which forms part of the Global Product Strategy and Development team.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Scope prioritised product ideas which include both new product ideas and enhancements/material changes to existing funds and merger/liquidations of funds
- Review in depth competitor offerings to develop new product ideas in partnership with the Product Strategy Team
- Assess market trends and competitor fund ranges and perform product research
- Bring new funds to market including managing delivery across all functions within the business
- Manage delivery of material changes to existing funds across all functions within the business
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to identify and develop business cases for new product ideas and evaluate significant changes and enhancements to existing funds
- Presentation of initiatives to key internal governance forums
- Develop and maintain relationships, in particular with the asset class investment desk(s), together with risk and compliance departments, operational teams, internal and external legal counsel, marketing and distribution.
Essential experience:
- Significant experience in the asset management industry with particular expertise in the development and delivery of investment management products, which should include UCITS products, as well as potentially alternative asset classes (e.g. private equity, hedge funds, other illiquid asset classes), alternative investment structures (e.g. Luxembourg SIFs, Part II funds) and local structures in major European domiciles
- Credibility and proven ability to engage with stakeholders across disciplines (portfolio management, distribution, strategy, marketing and operations) to discuss and facilitate the delivery of projects
- Sound understanding of the product development lifecycle and experience managing and delivering new products and product changes preferably within a large, highly complex, cross-functional environment

Essential knowledge:
- Technical capability in the UCITS and non-UCITS environment, including related legal and tax matters and the implications for product design
- A sound understanding of securities and instruments, portfolio management techniques, investment processes, and investment management products
- CFA qualification or equivalent experience
- A good understanding of the Pan-European asset management competitor landscape
