Background to hire
We are looking for a Sovereign Research Analyst (associate level) for the Emerging Market Debt (EMD) team, which is a part of the Global Fixed Income Currency and Commodities (GFICC) team. The EMD team manages over $40bn in dedicated assets and invests in hard currency sovereign, local currency sovereign, and corporate debt. We are looking for someone to cover sovereigns in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and contribute to the investment process by generating investment ideas based on their coverage. This position will be based in London and will require significant coordination with the team head and Global EMD team.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility will be research coverage of EMEA countries – exact coverage will depend on analysts experience and interests
- Analysts are expected to provide a macro view for all sector strategies and specific investment views for hard currency and local currency sovereign strategies
- Provide updates on country views in weekly/quarterly strategy meetings, ad-hoc country deep-dives, and monthly sovereign ranking process
- Respond to internal and external client requests on sovereigns under coverage, which may include client presentations
- Provide forecasts and inputs for proprietary cross-country and ESG research frameworks
- Secondary responsibility will be supporting portfolio implementation, working closely with portfolio managers and maintaining strong risk controls
- Implement Market and team best practices and seek to add value to our investment process
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Global Fixed Income and Currency Markets
- Experience in economic coverage of at least some portion of the EMEA region
- Background in economics, mathematics, or other quantitative field preferred
- Independent mind, ahead of the curve thinker, articulated and confident team player
- Attention to detail in a fast moving and demanding environment
- Strong team player with great communication and relationship skills
- Drive and determination coupled with a strong results-orientated work ethic and a natural inclination towards a team based collaborative environment is critical in this job
- Contribute to and manage projects to enhance team effectiveness and efficiency
