The primary function of the role is to act as an Information Architect and Data Modeler for this strategic data repository, partnering with Business Analysts and Data Management Owners and Stewards to create and maintain Data Models, across design levels of Conceptual, Logical and Physical. They will understand Information Requirements and Data Standards to coordinate these into well structured, accurate, validated, complete and consistent sets of Data Models. This will form a basis for Application Development teams that can then design and deliver against these Data Models. The role will be expected to consider additional factors such as when building and validating models:
- Data Sourcing Rules and Authoritative Data Sources
- Data Quality Rules and Expressions
- Taxonomies and Ontologies
- Reference Data Management Methods and Practices
- Strong Data-typing and Identifier Management
- Data Formats and both forward and reverse Engineering
- Version and Change Management methods and controls
- Data Registration and Data Lakes
- Data Provenance, Lineage and Design Traceability
They will be considered the Subject Matter Expert on Data and Information Architecture and Management working closely and collaboratively with business subject matter experts and project development teams, ensuring that the design is implementable, and that delivery is consistent with the agreed design.
They will work with Business, Application and Technology Architects to review (and where necessary contribute to) business drivers, needs and strategies whilst assessing the implications and impact to the Data and Information Architecture. They will be considered a key trusted advisor on options, risks, and cost versus benefits and will communicate business data prioritization decisions to the relevant technology organizations.
