You will join Climate Risk Management team responsible for developing the firm’s approach to climate-related risk management, including both transition and physical risks. You will bring strong data, research and communication skills to support the build-out of climate risk capabilities across the firm. You will interact with variety of internal counterparts across the firm, learning about the many aspects relevant in assessing the potential implications of climate change on a large and global financial institution..

Job responsibilities
- Developing analytical and model-driven approaches for incorporating climate risk assessment with an emphasis on quantifying chronic climate 1st and 2nd order impacts on the economy
- Designing or enhancing internal climate (physical risk) scenarios and expand scenario variables to meet internal stakeholders’ requirements
- Enhancing and developing chronic physical risk financial impact modelling including transmission channels to the macro-economy (in form of migration, labour productivity etc.)
- Interrogating, assessing and choosing appropriate models from external parties, including vendors
- Coordinating with central data and modelling teams to source required data, develop climate scenario models, and determine how to best integrate climate risk data into BAU risk models
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Strong academic background in in a highly quantitative discipline with a focus on optimization modelling
- Relevant experience in Integrated Assessment Modelling (IAM) and good understanding of (macro-)economics is required
- Working knowledge of climate-related physical risks and the transmission channels within an economy
- Excellent analytical skills and comfortable working large datasets; expertise in econometrics and other quantitative methods is highly desirable
- Familiarity with climate scenarios, e.g. NGFS, IEA, IPCC SSP-RCPs, etc.
- Relationship building skills, with ability to gain credibility and positively influencing the outcome of team efforts. Ability to establish yourself as a subject matter expert and gain credibility and respect of others
- Proficient with coding in various languages; Python/R/GAMS experience a plus

- Understanding of climate related transition impacts on macro-economic variables
