This role is for you if you have a desire to understand the products/asset classes that asset managers use to generate returns and also the services the firm offers to clients that we must diligently safeguard as risk managers.

Credit Risk Middle Office (CRMO) is part of the Reporting Middle Office and Control organisation within Corporate Risk. Our role is primarily focused on support for the Wholesale Credit Risk organisation globally. Key functions include limit breach monitoring, ongoing credit risk client maintenance and resolution of operational issues.

This role is within the fund onboarding team whose position is ultimately to ensure that new and existing funds are analysed in terms of their risk profile and then provided with the necessary credit lines in order to facilitate our business with them (primarily derivatives and other market trading). The current team is split by regional portfolio and you, once fully trained, will take on a portfolio that consists of fund managers across a number of mainly European countries. The team plays an integral role in the wider onboarding process and partners closely with Credit Risk and Transitions.

Job responsibilities

  • Analysing and evaluating information (fund prospectuses, factsheets, pension fund financial accounts, actuarial reports, legal docs etc.) to review investment and leverage strategies, structure, investment restrictions and other details. The purpose is to calculate the appropriate risk appetite and assign a risk rating as per JPMorgan policy.
  • This information must also be reviewed for ‘red flags’ that indicate alternative/hedge fund strategies. Where funds of this nature carry greater risk of default, they must be escalated to ensure they are appropriately managed in terms of trading limits and collateral.
  • Investigating and completing write-ups on new fund managers who wish to engage in business with the firm. These are then delivered to the relevant Credit Officer for approval as an eligible counterparty.
  • Working with Transitions/Sales to ensure our clients have sufficient flexibility within the firm’s risk framework to meet their business needs.
  • Raising negotiation requests for legal documentation that facilitates trading (e.g. ISDAs, GMRAs, OTC Clearing Addendums).
  • Performing annual reviews of existing funds to ensure credit limits and risk ratings are based on the latest available financial data.
  • The enhancement of existing operating procedures to improve internal controls, increase operational efficiencies and ensure that these are in compliant with Credit Risk policies. Here, we have an emphasis on intelligent solutions such as Alteryx, UiPath and Tableau.
