As a part of the CIB EMEA Strategic Event Marketing team the Associate will manage a programme of events across the region of varying complexity - typically planning some, delivering others and reviewing past activity simultaneously. You will blend logistics management with strategic skills – from shaping agendas and briefing speakers to guiding expert panelists and liaising with high-profile external speakers and venues. This role will focus on supporting our Global Corporate Bank and Payments businesses, especially Trade & Working Capital and Commerce Solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintain good understanding of the fundamentals of the businesses, strategic objectives, target audiences and department goals and translate that knowledge into individual priorities to deliver successful, best-in-class client events flawlessly
  2. Organise conferences and events, from concept to completion to support J.P. Morgan activity throughout EMEA, thinking strategically, executing quality output under tight deadlines and work extra hours on specific events as needed
  3. Work across the firm at all levels including, but not limited to venue research, external speaker shortlisting, data maintenance and integrity, internal and external communications, invitation creation, proofing, testing and distribution, pre-event tasks such as clarifying audio visual and technical requirements, organising event materials printing, on-site staffing and support, post-event tasks such as reviewing survey data and creating debrief materials
  4. Act as the sole planner on some events working with business partners on a day-to-day basis, plus working closely with other team members on larger events
  5. Instruct and manage external vendors and suppliers, ensuring quality and value standards are maintained, while managing to a budget, staying within strict parameters including negotiating costs
  6. Apply complex internal processes and controls to ensure all activity complies with company policies and industry regulations
  7. Some administrative tasks, e.g., managing RSVPs; reviewing RSVP lists; managing event supplies and shipping; premium research and ordering; and production tasks of event materials such as name badges and biographies

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  1. Minimum 4 years’ experience in event management or event marketing, ideally in a global financial or professional services environment – either directly or through close support at an agency
  2. Strong analysis and project management skills including solutions-led problem solving and independent thinking
  3. Superior oral and written communications, including editing and proofing
  4. Able to deliver messages clearly and succinctly; respond to senior management requests
  5. Demonstrate solid leadership skills and attributes, have a high level of energy, self-sufficiency and integrity, respect for a diversity of opinions and styles, and embraces accountability and responsibility
  6. Highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, innovative and creative with required determination to achieve results through initiative and common sense in a fast-paced environment with dynamic priorities
  7. Comfortable working in a matrix management organisation structure

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  1. Collaborate with other event marketers and partners on event data and analysis as well as assist in the development and reconciliation of event budgets
  2. Comfortable with, and an advocate for, ongoing change
  3. Ability to travel 10-25% of the time within EMEA
  4. Ability to become a ‘super user’ of core event tools and systems, including third-party applications, Zkipster and SharePoint, as well as proprietary systems Nominator and GEM
