Strategic Risk Transfer Solutions works in partnership with principal risk owners in the Firm, such as trading books and retained lending businesses, to help them manage the risk profile and optimize the financial performance of their positions. Beyond economic efficiency, we seek to strengthen J.P. Morgan franchise and complement its Alternative Credit offering to the largest and most sophisticated investors globally.
The opportunity is for a Vice President/Executive Director position in London as part of the Strategic Risk Transfer Solutions team with both technical and commercial responsibilities and accountability for business results. The core job description is to be able to identify risk sharing opportunities, identify key transaction objectives, structure an effective solution that meets the requirements of relevant stakeholders and control functions, and achieve best execution for the Firm through an effective and Franchise friendly distribution strategy.
The role will be focused on the Firm’s risk owners, including its Credit Portfolio Group, certain trading desks and their equivalent in other LOBs, as well as the Global Strategic Risk Transfer investor base, including hedge funds, asset managers, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds. The role involves work in close cooperation with senior leaders of the Firm in Banking, Trading, Sales and Control Functions.
Job responsibilities:
- Partner with senior leaders of the Firm in Banking, Trading, Sales and Controls to deliver high value trades for the Firm and its Investor Franchise.
- Lead the structuring and execution of Risk Transfer Transaction end-to-end, from identification of risk sharing opportunities on the Firm’s book to legal and economic structuring and commercial delivery to Investors.
- Be one of the Firm’s subject matter experts on risk sharing, including strategic, economic, accounting, tax, legal and commercial considerations.
- Be a product specialist for Sales and Banking in their interactions with strategic client relationships, up to CIO level
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- You demonstrate 5+ years of relevant experience in regulatory capital modelling and optimization
- You have a strong quantitative and analytical skills
- You demonstrate ability to synthesize and present complex concepts to both internal stakeholders and investors types in an appropriate fashion
- You demonstrate advanced knowledge of financial modelling, including all relevant balance sheet metrics and US banking ratios
- You have strong knowledge of credit product including bank loans, corporate bonds and their relevant underwriting processes. Experience with credit derivatives preferred.
- You demonstrate willingness to be a team player and share successes. We work closely with partners in sales, trading, policy groups, , legal, operations and other structurers.
- You have an ability to focus on long-term transactions and goals and to deliver under pressure and scrutiny
- You have Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a quantitative field with a strong background in Economics. Master’s degree preferred.

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
