The team focuses on four areas: Control Design & Expertise, Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment, Issues & Control Deficiencies and Control Governance & Reporting.
The Securities Services Operations Control Management (OCM) team provides comprehensive operational risk, controls, and governance support for Securities Services Operations (SSO). The ability to develop, implement and maintain a best-in-class governance and control environment is critical to the Firm’s success.
You will lead the Governance team which is responsible for supporting the Head of EMEA Operations and Shared Services in ensuring they have appropriate oversight for x-LOB internal operations, including defined Shared Services, within region and in order to support their regulatory responsibilities as SMF24 for UK CIB legal entities. The EMEA Operations Governance team currently reports into the Head of Governance and Controls for Securities Services Operations.
Role Description & Scope:
You will lead a dedicated team, partnering with senior executives within EMEA Operations and broader stakeholders within the EMEA region, and would be accountable to the Head of EMEA Operations who is a senior manager in the Global Markets Operations team with x-LOB responsibilities for oversight of regional internal operations and defined Shared Services
The scope of the role includes:
- EMEA Operations governance and reporting framework
- Provision of bespoke support to the Head of EMEA Operations as an SMF24 under the UK Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR)
- Supporting the Head of EMEA Operations in stakeholder engagements
- Driving automation and efficiency initiatives to streamline reporting
- Improving the ability to oversee operational risks and controls within region and UK CIB legal entities
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and evidence adherence to SMCR oversight requirements, maintain key regulatory documentation, including demonstration of effective oversight of delegated responsibilities, and provide submissions to UK regulators, as required
- Plan, schedule and facilitate monthly governance meetings: this includes the creation of thoughtful monthly agendas, information requests, production of formal monthly reports, preparation of minutes, and following up actions in a timely manner
- Work with the direct team and broader Operations teams to identify and execute on opportunities to improve reporting from stakeholders to provide consistent and transparent messaging that is focussed on risk identification and mitigation; this includes identifying opportunities for better “storytelling” including visualisation and automation of reporting leveraging digital tooling;
- Proactively identify and execute on opportunities to improve visualisation and automation of reporting, leveraging digital tooling, of operational metrics for UK CIB legal entities
- Ensure adherence to robust record-keeping and document storage standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders
Required qualifications, capabilities & skills:
- Deep understanding of the Financial Services industry, the regulatory environment and impact on business strategy: Significant work experience in the Financial Services industry, preferably with experience in operational risk, financial regulation and/or governance frameworks: should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Good understanding of the products and markets in which the CIB operates
- Knowledge or experience of Senior Managers & Certification Regime
- Understanding of the fundamentals of good governance
- Ability to read, digest and summarise regulatory requirements
- Strong and effective communication skills:
- Very strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to communicate succinctly, providing opinion and challenge senior stakeholders, as appropriate

- Experience of liaising with and presenting to senior management
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to coach and support teams to deliver similar high-quality output
- High competency levels in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to consistently deliver work of a high standard, and to tight timelines, including
- actively demonstrating accountability, responsibility, and ownership for own objectives and team deliverables
- ability to prioritise, whilst managing stakeholder expectations
- managing deliverables from stakeholders and own teams for monthly governance cycles
- Prior management experience of successfully leading small teams, including proven record of management of performance of others, managing budget and headcount, and recruitment of team members

Preferred qualifications, capabilities & Skills
- Prior experience of facilitating formal governance processes
- Markets, Securities Services and Payments product knowledge
- Engagement with UK Financial Services regulators i.e. PRA and FCA
- Business Analysis and / or Data Analysis skills;
- Digital tools experience – e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, Xceptor, UI Path
