As a Python Lead Software Engineer within the Finance technology team at JPMorgan Chase, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Collaborate with business users as a trusted partner to refine requirements, build a roadmap for a subsection of the system, and deliver truly important and easy to use functionality
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance developer productivity and contribute to JPMorgan Public Cloud migration
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Python expert with proven track record of mentoring and supporting junior developers with the goal of developing clean, well-engineered software
- Experience of developing software to perform statistical or mathematical calculations on complex datasets
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of the financial services and markets or a passion for learning it
- Interest in problem solving and continuous improvement mindset
- Experience of using analysis tools such as Pandas, Matlab, Spark
- Familiarity with web development frameworks e.g. REACT JS, Angular
