As a Director of Software Engineeringat JPMorgan Chase, you lead a technical area within our Corporate Technology Finance domain, driving impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to the team culture of culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience in Enterprise scale application design, development and operational stability
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Hands on experience with BigData and distributed computation systems (HDFS, Spark, Apache Flink, Databricks)
  • Hands on experience with Java, Python & Spring Boot and Cloud native foundations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working at code level
  • Data Modeling Skills
  • Familiarity with web development frameworks e.g. REACT JS, Angular
  • Interest in problem solving and continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects coupled with the flexibility to quickly adapt to ever-evolving business needs
