Job summary
The successful candidate will join a fast-paced, execution-heavy team, covering natural resources corporates across Energy, Power, Utilities and Renewables, Metals & Mining (EPRM) based and listed in the UK. We provide a wide range of advisory services in relation to mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, capital structure and liability management, as well as providing advice on and execution of equity, hybrid and debt issuance. As part of our core focus, we also provide corporate broking services to our UK-listed clients, involving extensive interaction with our research, sales & trading teams and our clients shareholders. Corporate broking services include extensive exposure to and interaction at CEO and CFO level.
As a seasoned Investment Banking professional, you’ll have experience developing strong relationships with corporates and financial institution clients and working across different products. You’ll work on deals and transaction across the spectrum of our banking products, including mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, loans, and equity capital and debt capital raises.
Job responsibilities
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
- Acting as the primary day-to-day client point of contact and lead banker on deals
- Providing market and financial advice to clients
- Reviewing and coordinating the analytic work of junior bankers to move marketing/execution process forward
- Experience in training junior bankers
- Refining marketing/execution materials for maximum client impact
- Overseeing the creation of financial projection models
- Identifying and managing all risks in a given deal
- Liaising with other internal and external parties on transactions (eg. lawyers, accountants, counterparties)
- Leading client negotiations, Q&A process and management interviews
Roles within the business are balanced between providing ongoing services to clients, winning new business and the execution of projects. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across the sector, including Energy, Power, Utilities and Renewables, and Metals & Mining clients and transactions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
These roles require a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
- Strong academic background
- Prior experience in Investment Banking or transactions, with EPRM sector experience strongly preferred
- Very strong financial modelling/valuation and analytical skills
- Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive, energetic and decisive, with high level of integrity
- Strong leadership, as well as people and project management skills
- Able to communicate concepts and ideas both verbally and via documentation, to and be able to defend their validity
- A relationship builder, who can establish trust and credibility with clients and the broader J.P. Morgan franchise

This role encompasses the performance of regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the relevant regulatory authorities to carry out such activities.
