As a Research Business Controls Manager in Control Management Team, you will be responsible for leading and building out an enhanced control framework which supports a continuous and integrated approach to risk assessment. Additionally, you will ensure the team assists in top down risk analysis, real time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis and remediation.

Job responsibilities

  • Creates a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols
  • Reviews and analyzes program related data (e.g., KRI/KPI) to support business-related programs and strategies. Lead communication throughout the project lifecycles to ensure stakeholders are aware of milestones and project status through use of good project management routines and disciplines
  • Provides leadership support for the end-to-end execution of risk and control assessments, including control breaks and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
  • Engages with control colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators and technology control functions
  • Achieves stakeholder buy-in and build partnerships to incorporate a range of perspectives to help ensure responsibilities for deliverables are well understood
  • Represents Front Office interests in control and regulatory initiatives sharing best practice experience and observations
  • Supports Regulatory, Audit and Compliance testing activities, and adherence to the Operational Risk Management Framework

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrable experience in network building, cross functional collaboration and influencing
  • Regulatory framework experience and understanding
  • Excellent project management experience in delivering high pressure projects from infancy to implementation
  • A pro-active and investigative mind-set, ability to see issues at both a high-level and in detail and understand applicability across the wider organization
  • Demonstrate confident leadership and sound judgment to influence a strong culture and risk management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) with the ability to develop compelling and meaningful presentations that will drive opportunities / recommendation for improvement
