In the Special Credits Group (SCG), you will focus on supporting senior credit officers to risk-manage and maximize the recovery of JPM’s credit exposure through early intervention in and financial restructuring of stressed/distressed borrowers. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting in crisis management preparedness globally across Wholesale Credit Risk and coordinating and developing strategies to mitigate risk with internal product and business partners. You will support senior credit officers in the Special Credits Group in the management of a portfolio of stressed and distressed borrowers in both EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal deal teams including Corporate/FIG/Emerging Markets Credit Risk Management, Coverage, GCB, Leveraged Finance, Payments, Legal, Compliance and Secondary Loan trading; review complex legal, financial, jurisdictional and product issues
  • Assist senior credit officers with large complex global crisis events and trading close-outs, including potential country or region crisis events involving multiple close-outs, helping in formulating and syndicating strategy and actions with senior stakeholders
  • Work with investors, company management, financial advisors, and outside counsel to find solutions for repayment of credit exposure, whilst preserving important client relationships
  • Assist in the credit decision-making process in live stressed/distressed situations on an advisory/managed basis. Support senior credit officers in the development of exposure management strategies
  • Prepare valuations on securities/ other instruments received from previous restructurings and formulate trading and disposal strategies
  • Contribute to firmwide playbooks and strategies and support crisis management training efforts for Wholesale Credit Risk and internal product and business partners
  • Develop portfolio analytics tools to assist with charge-off and asset specific reserve forecasting and portfolio wide metrics to help forecast the impact of future crisis events; analyze counterparty data and metrics using both internal and external data systems

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experienced in obtaining data from risk systems and developing models to manipulate and present data succinctly to senior management
  • Must be able to work well under pressure on teams in a demanding environment with good time management
  • Some corporate finance experience
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational, control, project management, communication, and negotiation skills with a strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance
