Morgan’s Green Economy Banking team was launched in 2021 to support the development and growth of exciting companies at the forefront of the energy transition that are advancing decarbonization through innovative technologies in sectors including Renewable Energy, Efficiency Technology, Clean Mobility & Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging, Energy Transition Enablers, Agriculture & Food Technology and Sustainable Finance.
The group provides holistic banking services, including strategic Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) discussions, equity and debt capital raising, and traditional banking products to companies across the climate transition space. Sitting in the Commercial Bank, the Green Economy team is able to support clients across their growth trajectory from early-stage venture capital backed clients through to mid-cap publicly traded companies with revenues up to €2bn.
The Green Economy Banking team is part of a multi-faceted eco-system at J.P. Morgan that focuses broadly on the client coverage of companies taking an active role in the energy transition across EMEA, whilst supporting J.P. Morgan’s commitment to building a more sustainable and inclusive economy including through the acceleration of the transition to low-carbon world.
Job Summary:
As a Green Economy Banking (EMEA) Senior Analyst / Junior Associate within the Green Economy Banking team, you will play a critical role in our business strategy and execution.
On the back of strong momentum, the Green Economy Banking team intends to continue its expansion with further junior banker hiring. The Analyst and Associate (“A&A”) position is primarily geared to providing thought leadership to deal teams and accountability for pitch book preparation and transaction execution, while ensuring coordination among analysts, senior deal team members, credit underwriting teams and other coverage partners. The team’s A&As play an integral part to help gain, manage and maintain client relationships within the Green Economy. We are a small and growing team, which means our A&As quickly gain direct client exposure and many opportunities to build their own client relationships. Having a strong interest in the industry, conviction in the energy transition and knowledge in sustainability & ESG trends is crucial to serving our clients well.
You will also play a leadership role in coordinating and working hand-in-hand with the US Green Economy Banking team, which will offer numerous opportunities to work on cross-border situations. Most importantly, the candidate will be highly enthusiastic about J.P. Morgan's mission and be driven and committed to its success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supporting Senior Bankers to help generate new revenue opportunities from prospects and existing clients
- Preparing marketing materials for use in client meetings covering topics such as strategic thought leadership, industry and peer analysis, financing alternatives and working capital optimization
- Working alongside Senior Bankers and Product Partners, particularly those within the DCM, ECM and M&A teams, to execute transactions from initial pitch through marketing to close for both existing and prospective clients
- Collaborating with credit underwriting teams on analysis, structuring and documentation of credit requests
- Building and using financial models for financing and Investment Banking transactions
- Developing an understanding of the full breadth of J.P. Morgan products and service offerings, including but not limited to M&A, debt capital markets equity capital markets, interest rate and currency hedging, treasury services
- Building knowledge of the Green Economy eco-system in Europe and globally
- Developing an understanding of the private and public investors actively investing in Green Economy companies
- Providing leadership, mentorship and supervision to junior members of the team
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Investment Banking background (M&A, industry coverage, capital markets or leveraged finance) is highly preferable
- Prior exposure to energy, natural resources, industrials or energy transition sectors is highly desirable
- European language skills (French, German or Nordic languages) are highly desirable
