The Infrastructure & Green Economy Credit Risk team structures new transactions and manages a portfolio of existing loans and related credit exposures to greenfield and brownfield projects across multiple sectors , including energy, power, renewables, energy transition, emerging green technology and transportation assets..
As a Credit Risk Analyst, you will work closely with senior team members and engage with Investment Banking, Global Corporate Bank, Infrastructure Financing & Advisory, Markets and other partners throughout the Bank. This role provides an opportunity to enhance analytical skills on highly structured transactions across a range of industries and countries in a fast paced and highly competitive environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Interfaces closely with business teams to develop diligence questions by reviewing contracts, forecasts/budgets, financial statements, construction reports, operating reports, etc.
- Uses strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand and identify risks and recommend loan structures which sufficiently protects JPM’s interests in various structured transactions
- Builds and maintain financial models to incorporate the impact of forward-looking risk assessment on key drivers
- Supports execution of transactions, reviewing/structuring finance and commercial contracts, making recommendations as to appropriate capital structure, exposure levels and risk grading
- Applies corporate finance and accounting expertise to prepare credit memorandums, take ownership of credit approvals and booking processes
- Performs portfolio management activities including analyzing amendment and waiver requests, periodic credit reviews, ongoing counterparty and industry credit analysis, monitoring of trading limits and appropriate credit ratings and negotiating documentation revisions, etc.
- Stays current on all aspects of assigned clients, including industry trends, portfolio performance, compliance with covenants, current events and news, potential risks and opportunities
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in accounting, finance, economics, engineering or related field
- Professional work experience in financial services or consulting preferred. Prior experience incredit/counterparty risk in Infrastructure finance will be viewed favorably. Experience in emerging green technologies and telco infrastructure (data centers, fiber) would be advantageous.
- Strong financial modeling skills and familiarity with financial statements (including ability to analyze capital structure, profitability, project build costs and cash flow)
- Understanding of front office processes, credit risk management and commercial requirements
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently whilst being able to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to learn quickly with a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills
- Good commercial acumen to balance risks and opportunities with an ability to build rapport and influence change. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex information in a clear and organized manner
