LV are looking to recruit a Head of Strategy in a key role within the business. You will act as custodian of the AZP Strategy, providing market leading internal consultancy to facilitate the formulation and delivery of strategy and business plan.
Supporting the Transformation Director, as well as other stakeholders, in identifying and progressing potential M&A activity.
A senior leader requiring the ability to influence AZP Exec, AZ Holdings Exco and AZH PLC Board, utilising strong stakeholder relationships, providing insightful competitor / market insight and expert understanding of insurance industry.
Key lead on the dynamic development of AZP Strategy, influencing the AZP CEO and Executive team in the strategic direction of running the business, with a strategy that enables fast response to the changing and diverse needs of customers.
Through expert market knowledge, identify and progress potential M&A activity through to Board level review and decision making.
Use knowledge and contacts to lead new venture / proposition development and launches if required.
Build and maintain a strong understanding of the wider Allianz business to ensure that AZP Strategy is aligned with Group strategic direction and supports delivery of 3-5 year financial plans.
Ownership of strategy management framework and processes, ensuring fit for purpose and pragmatically embedded within the AZP business. To include leadership of Executive strategy sessions.
Lead the delivery of high profile strategic initiatives & projects, to include M&A activity, project planning, monitoring, governance, stakeholder engagement and reporting back to the Transformation Director and/or AZP CEO.
Use deep insurance industry expertise to influence and challenge the AZP Executive Team against continual strategic review, identification of further change opportunities and effective future delivery.
Drive communication of the strategy internally and externally, via the AZP communication and PR teams.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with the AZP Executive Team and key senior stakeholders, including Board.
Develop and embed strategic insight activity, ensuring that all relevant external and internal research & intelligence is brought together to drive the strategic agenda.
This will be supported by members or the strategy team (UK, Group) and Finance and will include ongoing competitor & market analysis, customer & market segmentation and bench-marking.
Oversee analysis & provide acute insight into competitor year end & half year results, reporting to AZP Executive Team and other senior stakeholders.
Develop articulate and credible contributions to support AZP Exec, AZH Exco and AZH Board insight and recommendation to deepen Board understanding. Will include deep dive reviews and analysis / research.
Develop and maintain a recognised industry expert status, leveraging a strong network of analysts, market commentators and key external stakeholders. Sharing insight, best practice and external perspectives with the business
Knowledge Skills and Qualifications
Industry recognised deep expertise and knowledge of insurance/finance industry, ability to use this to influence and challenge senior leadership teams.
MBA qualified, plus qualification or experience in a financial accounting background, ideally within General insurance.
‘Classical’ Strategy development experience, ideally within a market leading consultancy environment
Previous experience as a senior lead on M&A activity, including relationship building with advisors and consultants.
Knowledge and experience of strategic business models that supports working insight and delivery.
Proven experience of stakeholder management and leading strategic projects, influencing senior leadership teams.
Proactive self-starter, able to pre-empt and respond to both short term challenges and long term opportunities.
Proven ability to support delivery of a response to complex financial matters – able to appreciate ‘big picture’ matters yet comfortable with adapting ‘hands-on’ style to delivery.
Confident and clear communicator – able to quickly integrate to make a positive impact on multi-level seniority and disciplined teams.
Able to demonstrate appreciation and experience of Strategic Planning.
A creative and inquisitive thinker, confident in tackling broad / loosely defined projects with the ability to tackle ambiguity to add shape and context in order stimulate senior level discussion. Able to go beyond problem identification into independently developing solutions.
Displays leadership qualities; charismatic and able to flex personal style as required.
Excellent written, numeric and oral communication skills and capable of generating impactful insight from large and complex data/documents.
Excellent presentation skills to command credibility with experienced senior stakeholders.
