The Solution Assessment’s Team’s Purpose
Every company is beginning to think and operate like a digital company, changing the way they serve their customers and partners. Organizations are looking for IT to drive their digital transformation, supporting key imperatives to create competitive edge, improve citizen services, increase security, resilience and operational efficiency whilst reducing costs. IT transformation and modernization requires an organization to understand where they are today in order to help them achieve their tomorrow.
The purpose of the Solution Assessment Service is to delight and empower customers with data driven insights and best practice recommendations bespoke to their business, helping them create their business case for digital transformation. As a Solution Assessment Specialist, you will collaborate with account and sales teams within Microsoft’s Small, Medium and Commercial segment to proactively position an assessment to customers with a need for change. You’ll be the owners and curators of the delivery of a broad range of assessment types to customers helping them create the business case for change.
What you will do as a Solution Assessment Specialist
In close collaboration with the Microsoft sales team and partners you will engage with customer IT and business decision makers to understand their goals and imperatives, qualify and propose the best fit solution assessment to help them assess their as-is and make recommendations on the to-be. The assessment will detect and quantify their infrastructure, application, data, end user or security landscape providing them with data insights, benefit analysis and financial modelling to help shape their digital transformation strategy and plan. You will be supported by a technical consultant who will deploy data capture tooling in the customer’s environment, analyse the data and prepare the report whilst you will work with the partner to create the business case for change including a plan to help them pilot and implement the proposed change.
How will you spend your time having impact?
- Strategic Sales Planning (20%)
- Working with your aligned sales team to identify and prioritize customers and projects using territory planning and propensity resources.
- Leading efforts to identify insights from customer organizations that drive multi-cloud consumption and replicating with new customers.
- Being disciplined in business-management, adaptable to a culture of accountability and building a strong and active business network.
- Supporting the wider SAS team on strategy and planning to have a broad impact on the team and business.
- Consultative selling & Business Case Execution (40%)
- Engaging in value-based selling to C-level decision makers leveraging financial modelling for Cloud operations & business value analysis.
- Managing multiple engagements at any one time to scale as well as leading projects which are both complex and large-scale in nature.
- Being the subject matter expert for assessments with insights into how customers see the economic, operational and sustainability benefits of using the Microsoft. cloud compared to hosting and on-premise data centers.
- Disrupting the mindset of customers and by bringing innovative ideas that highlight the case for change and Microsoft’s unique value proposition.
- Partnering for Success (30%)
- Advise customers and partners on how to maximize assessments tools and business value analysis.
- Develop a partner strategy for your region and engage the right partners on the right projects to accelerate migration and modernization post assessment.
- Executes solution assessments through extended partners, suppliers, and/or assessment desk. Selects the right partners to work with customers throughout targeted engagements. Facilitates partner onboarding and training (e.g., tools, warranty, priorities).
- Guide key co-assess partners to leverage data collected to better align their services to customer needs. Ensuring high usage of investment programs Azure Migrate and Modernise Program (AMMP) to drive POC/POV, adoption and consumption.
- Executes solution assessments through extended partners, suppliers, and/or assessment desk. Selects the right partners to work with customers throughout targeted engagements. Facilitates partner onboarding and training (e.g., tools, warranty, priorities).

Qualifications
Successful candidates will demonstrate
- A track record of value-based engaging with C-level decision makers leveraging financial modelling & business value analysis

If would be highly advantageous if you possessed the following but not essential.
- Knowledge of Microsoft licensing
- Finops practitioner accreditation or similar
- Azure Fundamentals, Modern Workplace Fundamentals, or Dynamics certification(s), or other related Microsoft certifications.
- Certifications from competitive platforms and solution sales, technical sales, marketing, communications, licensing, or channel/business development experience
- Degree, NVQ or equivalent to demonstrate a strong learning mindset
