The Chief Data Architect for Retail will serve as a trusted advisor to Microsoft’s UKs top customers in the Retail and Consumer Goods space, driving thought leadership that will shape industry, competition and solution strategies, strong industry partnerships, as well as long-term, sustainable growth for both Microsoft and our accounts.
The Chief Data Architect will engage with C-Level decision makers across IT and business, guiding the development of customers’ long-term technology roadmaps, driving joint account planning, and leading a virtual team that will accelerate the adoption of Microsoft Data &AI technologies. This role will actively enable customers to realize the value of their investment in Microsoft through usage of our cloud capabilities, and other advanced technologies including AI, cognitive services, mixed reality, robotics, digital twins, blockchain and others. The person will connect strongly and consistently with multiple engineering teams at Microsoft to translate market opportunity into platform capabilities, investments, to partner regarding engaging in lighthouse wins, to ensure compatibility and compliance regarding industry-specific decisions on the platform.

- Engage key customers to drive the industry-relevant technology conversation at a senior level with support from engineering and industry leaders.
- Planning, leading, and orchestrating regular V-team & community calls internally with an intention to grow the Azure Data & AI business, and unblock common customer asks and challenges.
- Building a presence as an industry thought leader in the relevant industry community, industry conferences and events.
- Be a leading contributor to the Data & AI UK Industry Domain Community and driving participation, knowledge sharing, IP discovery/reuse working closely with Time Zones sales & delivery teams, Technology and Role-based community leads, engineering, and marketing teams.
- Lead Data Driven RFIs/RFPs for major industry customers, ensuring the account teams are positioning the Microsoft industry offerings correctly.
- Support Data and AI Customer Solution Architects with guidance on industry solutions and ensure that proposed architectures represent the best offering for the customer. Be visionary in scaling for new architectural design patterns in Data & AI, and also making room for Paradigm shifts in this space such as Data Mesh.
- Keep close track of the competitive and industry landscape in the data platform space (particularly across data management + analytics + ML) looking across product capabilities and “Go To Market” strategy to identify and prioritize our top issues and opportunities.
- Run a rhythm with key members of UK CSU Team to gather information on customers’ business challenges, the key Industry Priority Scenarios getting traction, and

- Relevant Industry experience across Retail, expertise, and credentials with customer line-of-business needs and deep industry solution technical expertise
- Depth Knowledge of one of the leading Cloud Data and AI providers and the ability to map relevant IT technology solutions to customers’ IT and business needs and priorities.
- Knowledge of the partner ecosystems (including Tier 1s, ISVs, SIs) related to Industry solutions and the ability to identify leading solution vendors or systems integrators with relevant repeatable solutions or domain practices.
- Strong development and architecture skills acquired serving the Retail Industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar information technology-related, or equivalent; Master's degree preferred.
