Senior Landscape Architect

Initially you will fulfil a key project role on a range of technical design and assessment projects, supporting the existing landscape team members in public realm projects. As the position develops it is expected that you will take on a more active role in supporting the landscape team, managing project teams and deliverables and procuring new work with the support of the wider landscape practice.


In addition to this, the candidate's typical duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking site visits and working closely with our clients to develop scheme designs.
  • Leading the production of visualisations, conceptual, detailed and associated contract drawings, presentation drawings, schedules, specifications and photomontages for landscape and urban design projects.
  • Assisting the landscape team leader to deliver practice and divisional business development strategies.
  • Providing management of projects both financially and as a small team project leader.
  • Raising the profile of landscape architecture in Mott MacDonald through contributing to publications and attending events.

Candidate Specification

  • The ideal candidate will be a chartered landscape architect
  • You will have demonstratable experience in delivering high quality, contemporary public space projects.
  • You will have a keen interest in design and innovation, following up-to-date approaches to approaches offering sustainability and social value
  • A thorough understanding in the use of hard and soft landscape materials and detailing with a refined aesthetically sensibility
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks diligently and independently with a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, experience in liaising with clients and multi-disciplinary team members in a confident manner
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail, demonstratable experience in delivering technical drawings, specifications and reports
  • Strong computer skills and experience of the following software packages would be an advantage; Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and NBS.

  • Although this position is based in our central London (Fleet Place) office the candidate should expect to be involved in projects across the UK, some of which may be managed by our landscape teams based in other Mott MacDonald UK offices
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally if required.

Mott MacDonald's landscape architecture and urban design team has an exciting opportunity for a landscape architect to join its established landscape team in central London, to assist in delivering a range of design and planning projects both regionally and across the UK.
