Our Group Legal Department is a dedicated in-house team of employees based at our head office in Croydon, UK and other offices around the globe. This team is responsible for providing legal services and advice on all matters associated with Mott MacDonald's activities globally.
We're looking for a proactive and positive Legal Counsel to join our legal team to help advise on a wide range of legal matters associated with Mott MacDonald's global activities. This is a broad and exciting role with exposure to many different jurisdictions. We love a challenge and this role will give you valuable experience in a business that holds a large and diverse global footprint. We adopt a pioneering mindset, working collaboratively with a global network of legal experts to meet challenges head on.
The successful candidate will have practical commercial law experience gained in private practice or in-house. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of legal disciplines including mergers and acquisitions, company law, contract reviews, construction law advice, software, technology, intellectual property, disputes, claims and insurance.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including consultancy agreements, framework agreements, NDAs, software licences and SaaS agreements.
- Identify departures from our governance as part of the review of such commercial agreements and assist project teams in obtaining the necessary internal approvals where appropriate
- Advise business on applicable laws and regulations.
- Revise and maintain legal templates for use across the Group ensuring they reflect current best practice and legislation.
- Draft and update legal guidance to raise awareness of recurrent topics and new regulations.
- Advise business on litigation and insurance matters, which may include liaising with outside counsel and technical experts.
- Assist with Group projects including company formations and mergers and acquisitions.
- Support other parts of the Legal Department such as the Ethics & Compliance and Data Protection teams
- Knowledge, Experience and Educatio
- Qualified solicitor with circa NQ - 3 years PQE (qualified in England and Wales)
- Relevant experience either in private practice with a top national firm or in-house.
- Good practical experience of the application of legal principles and commercial law.
- Legal experience in negotiating and drafting commercial and other business to business technology and information related contracts (nice to have).
- Legal experience of construction law preferably gained in a consultancy environment or with a client/contractor (nice to have).
- Great analytical skills and excellent legal knowledge.
- Ability to multitask, problem solve, and balance competing priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a bigger team.
Knowledge, Experience and Education
