Your responsibilities will involve the following:
- Reporting to the Sub lot Lead Package/ Design Manager as required
- Taking responsibility for the delivery of design for a number of assets
- Coordinating design across engineering and environmental disciplines, liaising with resources in the core production centre office and any supporting office locations, and the Environmental Coordinator for the relevant design package
- Setting and managing the detail of the design delivery programme across disciplines and briefing the team on programme aims
- Liaising with other Design Managers/Coordinators for other design packages to ensure common application of processes in the design delivery
- Liaising with Discipline Engineers to deliver coordinated multidisciplinary designs
- Highlight key issues and/or delays to Production Lead and maintaining a log of co-ordination issues
- Author MIDP (Master Information Delivery Plan) for designated geographic areas
- Maintaining deliverables in ProjectWise (PW)
- Owning weekly progress meeting for your area
- Keeping a federated coordination model updated as well as reviewing federated models with technical disciplines including e.g. clash detection
- Creating Early Warning Notices and Quotations ensuring technical accuracy, as needed
- Managing coordinated drawing production
Candidate Specification:
You have a civil / structural engineering background in the design of civil/ multidisciplinary assets for a consultancy or contractor and are ideally familiar working in an assurance regime.
- You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Master's degree in Engineering and/or Science (MSc, MEng or equivalent)
- Chartered or near chartered with a relevant professional institution
- Experience of processes, tools and techniques for the design of civil assets
- Assurance of multidisciplinary designs
- Good communication, team working and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility in working location (i.e. from home, design office)
- Willingness to learn new processes and picking up tasks as needed
Although not essential, experience of project integration tools and working in a Common Data Environment (CDE) would be beneficial. Understanding or experience with geotechnical and structural analysis programmes will be advantageous as would practical experience in the construction of above- and below ground structures. Should you have experience in contractual knowledge of NEC with practical experience implementing and administering project change procedures, this would be desirable. Technical experience in tunnels, bridges, geotechnical or other key engineering disciplines of HS2 would be beneficial.
This role is for HS2 Phase 1 N1 & N2. As a key team member with a technical background, you will be able to coordinate cross-discipline inputs while focused on reliable delivery to an Assurance Plan. You will provide design coordination/ management and integration with other engineering disciplines including structural, geotechnical, environmental, mechanical and electrical engineers covering a range of project requirements from preliminary design to detailed design and construction. You will be involved in planning the design stage of infrastructure works as well as be responsible for the production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, drawings and assurance.
Your role will include design risk management, design integration, construction programming and technical governance and building a professional network across partner organisations and Clients.
