Following our continued growth and wider success in winning major projects across the UK and overseas, we are looking for a Senior Drainage Engineer to join our roads design team. This role can be based out of any one of our main offices across the UK. This is an opportunity to join our growing vibrant and dynamic Roads Design Team and contribute to our achieving a high performing shared enterprise with our partners. You will be using our go digital platforms where you will be an integral part of the wider roads design teams located around the UK.
As a Senior Drainage Engineer you will work with the team to fulfil the needs of our clients across a wide range of projects. This role will involve providing highways drainage design and construction technical advice across our wide project portfolio including, but not limited to the following:
- Detention Ponds
- Drainage systems
- Storm Sewer
- Water Quality Facilities
- Drainage Channels
- Erosion Control
- Flood Plain Analysis
- Roadside Ditches
- Conveyance
- Bridge Scour
Your responsibilities will mean that you will:
- Be a member of the drainage design team supporting major highways projects, with a key focus on Design and Build schemes primarily in the UK;
- Contribute to a collaborative approach to project delivery working within large multidisciplinary teams to continuously improve the efficiency of our projects aligned with Project 13 principles; and,
- Foster innovation in the delivery of design and technical excellence.
Degree in Civil Engineering or similar level of knowledge and experienced based learning;
- Working towards Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status with ICE, CIHT or IHE ;
- Post qualification experience in drainage design of medium-large scale infrastructure projects;
- Knowledge of drainage best practice, guidelines, and standards applicable to drainage infrastructure;
- Knowledge of UK highway design standards (DMRB) and specification (MCHW);
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and how it is applied to the design process;
- Highly proficient in the use of relevant discipline software/design packages;
- A confident communicator with good verbal and writing ability;
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic with excellent teamwork abilities; and,
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Desirable qualifications:
Although not essential, it would beneficial if you have:
- Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status with ICE, CIHT or IHE;
- Experience working on design & build projects; and,
- Worked with central government, local authorities, contractors or passenger transport executives as clients.
