Brief Description
This is an exciting time to join Network Rail in a time of transition with the Putting Passengers First programme. This plan is to provide the best possible service for passengers and freight users, to deliver the promises we've made for Control Period Six (CP6), and to improve the way we work together and with the industry.
You will be part of the NW&C Region which consist of three routes:
- North West Route, covering Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria.
- Central Route, covering the West Midlands and Chiltern areas.
- West Coast Mainline South Route*, covering the West Coast main line south of Crewe to London Euston.

About the role (External)
We commit to putting the customer first. To enable us to further this ethos, we are growing our team by a Customer Manager; you will develop and improve our performance and new ways of working within our managed stations and our relationship with the train and freight operating companies.
Every single day will be dynamic, presenting many challenges and opportunities for you to improve how we operate as a route. You will be involved in:
- Managing our contractual relationship with the customer on all issues including performance, access conditions, access agreements, invoicing and claims.
- Acting as arbitrator to resolve commercial and other disputes in a way that maintains customer relationships
- Manage the contractual elements of the customer's Track Access Contract performance regimes to minimise payments and see opportunities for improving processes
- Identifying, managing and delivering improvement projects for both the customer and Network Rail
Essential Criteria:
- Do you have experience of customer relationship management
- Can you inspire others to adopt new ways of working
- Excellent interpersonal skills to executive level
