Brief Description
We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join our Asset Protection team based in Stratford, London. The Anglia Asset Protection team manages projects that are initiated and funded by external clients who wish to construct something over, under or near the railway and which could affect the railway in some way.
The purpose of ASPRO team is to present the "Front Face" of Network Rail to the external clients. It has a responsibility in managing client expectations in a professional and effective manner but, at the same time, to ensure that the railway is safeguarded from any ill effects from the external projects.
As a Construction Manager working within the Anglia Asset Protection team you will have exposure to 100's of projects in East Anglia. These projects encompass a huge variety of types and values. Projects range from a few hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions of pounds of external client expenditure. Types of projects include asset protection to bridges, tunnels, residential and commercial developments, statutory undertakers' crossings, level crossing alterations, electricity pylons, telecoms masts and a host of others The essential theme of all these projects is that they must have some potential to impact on the railway that needs project managing by the team in order to reduce the risk to Network Rail.
About the role (External)
Your days will be varied, but you can expect to be involved in:
Lead and empower Assistant Construction Managers and/ or Construction Management Assistants. Act as a role-model for them in terms of behaviours and values, and mentor their professional development.
Stay aligned with processes and effectively implement them.
Provide construction management input, particularly advice regarding construction, implementation, constructability, attendance at pre-possession planning meetings, reviews and QSRA meetings.
Undertake appropriate liaison with the Maintainer when works will or may affect Maintained Assets.
Evaluate the progress on site against the programme and agreed achievements. Use this information to provide accurate updates to the wider team and agreed reporting lines.
Assist the Project Manager in the review of Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, commissioning plans and other project documentation.
Undertake, or arrange for others to undertake, suitable inspections and audits and keep suitable records. Communicate information regarding construction management to the rest of the team.
Identify issues on site that may result in cost variation and report them, providing assistance in the valuation of these variations.
When significant issues are encountered, escalate to the Senior Construction Manager to facilitate a timely and effective resolution.
Identify areas where a 'continuous improvement' approach to construction management could bring benefit.
Provide 'build-ability' advice to the project team.
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:
Successful construction management experience
Proven experience for the specialist area of construction management being undertaken.
Understanding of the CDM Regulations and health & safety legislation, regulations and industry practices.
Proven experience of the implementation of health, safety, environmental and quality management processes.
Contract and commercial awareness.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to operate effectively in the site environment.
Experience within the rail industry

We follow a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: Band 4C: £40,107 - £45,120.
