Purpose of the Role:

This is a senior leadership role within the Procurement function that is critical to the success of G&W UK/Europe through:
1. Consolidating £50m of annual spend across 1500 suppliers ensuring that our business receives the right goods and services, safely, on time delivering maximum value.
2. Supporting the Procurement Directorate with spend analysis and insights.
3. Overseeing the Procurement Project Management Office & Reporting to ensure that procurement events are completed on time and deliver the planned outputs.
Leading a team of seven, the successful candidate will be central to the transformation of the way that G&W UK/Europe buys goods and services in support of operational and corporate activities. Direct reports will include three Category Buyers, and three Analysts.

All activity will include both Engineering and Corporate Services categories.

You will be responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders, supporting the business and ensuring continuity of supply through a period of change.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Consolidating £50m of annual spend across 1500 suppliers ensuring that our business receives the right goods and services, safely, on time and delivering maximum value.

Supporting the Procurement Directorate with spend analysis, insights and project status.

Overseeing the Procurement Project Management Office & Reporting to ensure that procurement events are delivered on time and deliver the planned outputs.

Ensuring industry standards are underpinned by the guiding rules and principles of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

Supporting the development and continuous improvement of the Group Procurement Policies to ensure business needs are met in line with best in class procurement.

Complying with company safety and ethical standards, policies and relevant legislation.

Ensuring that business risks are clearly identified and mitigated as part of the end-to-end procurement process. Building and maintaining a Contract and Supplier Database. Applying cross-company working, sharing lessons learned, highlighting learning opportunities at all levels and concentrating on knowledge transfer at all levels. Collaborating in the management of reporting requirements within G&W Leading, developing and coaching direct reports. Responsible for recruitment and on-boarding of new reports. Deputising for Head of Procurement as required.

Key job requirements:

An experienced Senior Category Manager who is highly driven by delivering great results and a track record of working effectively in an operational environment.

MCIPS Essential with 10 years plus sourcing experience.

University degree – desirable.

Excellent Inter-personal, organisational and communication skills (oral and written).

Comfortable working with incomplete information and able to lead the development of best in class spend data and analysis.

Proven ability to build strategic relationships and work collaboratively at all levels.

Collaborative influencing style with a focus on team-work with a proven ability to deliver results in challenging environments.

This role will require the individual to travel as required to a number of G&W sites predominantly within the UK, Europe and potentially the rest of the world.
