Digital at PMI is dynamic, diverse, and disruptive. Join us and become a part of a top talent team where you can bring new ideas to life in a global function that is a key driver of the success of our business.

What’s the purpose of this role?

We have built the data & AI platform over the years to enable PMI’s data and analytics driven transformation journey. The data platform consists of state-of-the-art architecture and technologies e.g. databases, data lake, data ingestion, ELT, Cloud, data orchestration, business intelligence, advanced analytics etc. Our team is responsible for building, evolving and operating the data platform for various PMI teams who build data products & applications on top of it.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer with experience in working with SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, AnzoGraph DB and/or other DBMS platforms and Big Data processing tools to join our team. You will play a crucial role in building an approach using the available observability tools and infrastructure to improve automation, resiliency and maintainability of our data platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of our systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing observability solutions, monitoring and diagnosing issues, and providing insights to improve system efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SRE practices, cloud infrastructure, and observability tools such as New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK stack, Dynatrace etc. as well as alerting tools like OpsGenie and PagerDuty.

If you have a passion for enhancing system observability, troubleshooting complex problems, and driving continuous improvements, we want to hear from you.

Your day-to-day

  • Design and implement observability covering logging, monitoring, tracing and alerting solutions, increasing systems visibility and enabling faster recovery from incidents
  • Automate systems management, focusing on performance, scalability and improving utilization
  • Ensure all services and solutions designed are built in adherence to PMI’s Information Technology Policy Framework (ITPF) and are fully industrialized for consumption by customers and technology groups
  • Actively participate in Community of Practice (COP) for SRE and promote SRE disciplines and practices including SLOs and SLIs
  • Detect (log, monitor, alert), Resolve (assess, communicate, resolve) and Prevent (adapt, assess, review) platform availability and quality issues
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and visualizations to provide insights into Data Platform behavior
  • Collaborate with product teams and operations teams to optimize system performance and availability

What is needed to succeed in this Role?

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data science or data analytics
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing observability tools such as New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK stack
  • Experience in working with ELT orchestration and workflow management tools like Matillion, DBT, Airflow and Matillion
  • Experience in working with SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, AnzoGraph DB and/or other DBMS platforms and Big Data processing tools
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and logging and monitoring frameworks such as SIEM or Splunk
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Java, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Experience in managing and optimizing system performance and availability
  • Knowledge of security best practices in systems monitoring and observability
