About us
As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role
The Asset Services Directorate provide services to the department in the areas of Assets Management, Building and Property Management, Facilities Management, Fleet, Uniforms and Logistics to ensure fit for purpose assets which will meet the departments demands both operationally and strategically into the future.
Reporting to The Executive Director, Asset Services, you will be responsible for supporting the innovation process and methodology, and partnering with internal and external entities to drive innovation opportunities for QFES. Assets most critical to QFES business operations include infrastructure, fleet, uniforms and protective equipment. Innovations will include conceptualising and implementing products, services and strategies that are novel, useful and resource efficient within the context of the QFES business. During product development and implementation, you will need to oversee the delivery of the project, ensuring that it remains within the overall project scope, and maintain communications with multiple internal stakeholders throughout the life of the project.

- Knowledge and/or experience or qualifications in product design, user experience, and/or other areas of technology including visual design.
- Skills and experience in workshop design, facilitation and capability building.
- Extensive experience working collaboratively with cross functional stakeholders.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Provide strategic leadership, vision and management through independent research, identification and evaluation of new product concepts for application into the departmental programs that align with business and strategic objectives.
- Provide strong evidence-based and independent advice on new product concepts, ensuring delivery and lifecycle management of assets that meet current and future business needs.
- Provide technical feedback on product development to align planning and activities with business and product strategic roadmaps.
- Lead and facilitate stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation, including preparing technical presentations for service leads and the senior executive to support planning and ensure effective decision making is achieved.
- Manage, prepare and review complex reports, submissions and briefings to support new product development and procurement, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance.
- Lead and manage complex project/s and initiatives in accordance with strategic priorities to ensure the delivery of the overall project scope is within the time, cost, quality and safety requirements.
- Plan and implement associated project tasks, and prepare general presentations to support business progress status updates that ensure quality outcomes and project deliverables are achieved.
- Understand and map the business process interfaces where change management is necessary for new product establishment to ensure they are successfully implemented and meet stakeholder needs.
