Rheinmetall Electronics UK (REUK) Ltd operates internationally, designing and manufacturing advanced electronics products and systems for the communications, defence, security and government services market.

We are excited to announce that we are building upon the commercial success achieved to date, and have an opportunity to join our rapidly expanding team.

We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.

This role is primarily a mechanical design engineer role. You will also, be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the development, integration and verification of new components, products and systems.

Responsibilities & Tasks

• Produce Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical designs that meet defined requirements.

• Support early product development through to New Product Introduction (NPI).

• Work with the wider team to achieve necessary product compliance certification.

• When required, support root cause analysis on issues with existing products.

• Contribute to peer review processes within the team.

• Support the turnaround of engineering changes into manufacturing.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

Skills Required

• Proven experience in 3D CAD modelling and drawing creation (Siemens NX preferred but not essential).

• Creating detailed component and assembly drawings, demonstrating a basic understanding of BS 8888.

• Knowledge in one or more of the following technologies would also be a benefit:
  o Machining and sheet metal processes.
  o Electronics packaging (mounting PCB, connectors, harnesses into enclosures etc).
  o Understanding of finite element analysis (FEA).
  o Effects of shock and vibration.
  o Environmental sealing and EMC protection

• HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or similar engineering discipline) and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
