Success. The Softcat Way.

As one of the UK's leading IT infrastructure providers and a FTSE 250 listed company, we have built a reputation for excellence. Our strategy is simple – we believe that highly engaged employees are the key to building customer trust and loyalty over the years. This trust and loyalty, combined with our market leading growth and performance, enables us to invest in our technology and services capabilities. This investment in turns drives even more engaged employees. We are committed to giving everyone the opportunity to step up and show how much they can achieve. Our success is truly a collective effort - we succeed when all our people succeed.

Join our Service Development team!

Softcat's Service Development team is in place to develop, introduce and improve the IT services that we offer our customers. The role of the team is to research new potential service and proposition offerings and bring them to life by working with the wider organisation.

As a Service Development Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the definition, documentation, maintenance and release of multi-million-pound gross profiting services and propositions in the Hybrid Platform Technology Tower. You will lead the creation, release and enhancement of the Public Cloud services and propositions. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and will lead cross-functional project teams to build services in line with the agreed vision for them, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest standards for our customers. You will also work closely with the wider Service Development Team to contribute to improvements in the team's frameworks and documentation.

As Service Development Programme Manager you'll be responsible for:

  • Own the planning and delivery of multiple, concurrent service releases and enhancements within the Technology Tower you are aligned to.
  • Apply principles from both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, selecting the most appropriate approach based on the nature, complexity, and maturity of each service.
  • Be the primary point of contact within the business for the services you manage, ensuring stakeholders have clarity on scope, status, and upcoming changes to the project.
  • Collaborating closely with the relevant Service Development Product Manager to ensure you have a thorough understanding of each service in your Technology Tower, including its goals, features and the vision behind it.
  • Create a communication plan ensuring a RACI (responsible, accountable, consulted and informed) has been agreed to for project success.
  • Provide clear and concise weekly workstream updates to business stakeholders, ensuring it's structured appropriately to the intended audience.
  • Assuring the Service Architecture quality of each service you manage, ensuring that the business processes, commercial model, contract pack and service features are accurate, robust, and well communicated to all relevant stakeholders.

We'd love you to have

  • Demonstrable project or programme management experience.
  • Experience using Jira, Microsoft Planner, Miro, LucidSpark or similar project management tooling.
  • Experience working within an organisation focused on services (preferably IT services).
  • Experience working on service documentation (e.g. Service Descriptions) would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Ability to balance work priorities, organise own workload, work with minimal supervision, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and respond quickly to new situations and changing priorities.

We also acknowledge that the confidence gap and imposter syndrome are a real thing and can get in the way of us meeting fantastic talent, so please don't hesitate to apply – we would love to hear from you!

Work in a way that works for you

We recognise that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too. In this role, we can offer the following flexible working patterns:

  • Hybrid working
  • Working flexible hours - flexing the times you start and finish during the day
  • Flexibility around school pick up and drop offs

Working with us

Wherever you work, we want you to experience the freedom and autonomy to realise your potential. You will feel supported by a team that celebrates individuality, encourages different perspectives, and embraces every background.
