Formed of various departments and functions, it exists to support the business both operationally and strategically. Success. The Softcat Way.

It's an exciting time to be at Softcat, one of the UK's most successful technology solutions businesses. We help customers to use technology to succeed, by putting our employees first. So, if you share our drive and ambition, get ready to achieve more from your career.

As the Head of Data Strategy, you'll be responsible for driving the execution and on going evolution of the Data Strategy and Data Governance framework across Softcat. Acting as the 'guiding mind' who plots our path to driving commercial value from data, you'll be working with stakeholders at all levels of the business to transform the way we use data.

As Head of Data Strategy, you'll be responsible for:

  • Transform our data and information into insights that inform a high-level strategy and tactical decision-making in support of profitability objectives
  • Develop and execute a plan to maximise self-service capabilities for internal users and customers, overseeing development and, at the right time, adopting the latest innovations from the data industry
  • A visible leader who champions the development of a data-driven culture at Softcat and sets the vision and direction for all data professionals in our organisation
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure information needs are formalised and understood
  • An expert strategic advisor and ‘critical friend' to our Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Information Officer and other key executives for all aspects of data and analytics

We'd love you to have

  • A strong understanding of key principles and activities across major data and analytics functional areas (Architecture, Governance, Reporting, Analytics etc)
  • Exposure to, and a working knowledge of, cloud-based data and analytics technologies (ideally within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem)
  • A highly effective strategist with proven experience in strategy creation and, preferably, also target operating model development in large organisations
  • Comfortable influencing at C-suite level and able to translate complex technical details into clear, commercially relevant recommendations

Work in a way that works for you

We recognise that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too. In this role, we can offer the following flexible working patterns:

  • Hybrid working – 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home
  • Working flexible hours - flexing the times you start and finish during the day
  • Flexibility around school pick up and drop offs

Working with us

Wherever you work, we want you to experience the freedom and autonomy to realise your potential. You will feel supported by a team that celebrates individuality, encourages different perspectives, and embraces every background.
