The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Advanced Analytics and Data team within Energy Markets as a Data Analyst on a 9-month secondment. It’s a great opportunity to broaden your experience, strengthen your data capability and make a visible contribution to the Energy Markets data strategy.
You will
  • Help ensure our data is secure, trusted, accurate and appropriately protected, applying strong Data Management and Governance principles and keeping safety, confidentiality and responsible data use at the heart of your work.
  • Provide transparent, quality-assured data and insight that enables colleagues to make well-informed decisions and effectively monitor operational performance.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand complex data requirements, using the Data Playbook to translate these into practical solutions that support both current needs and future developments.
  • Apply your business knowledge and curiosity to identify opportunities to improve how data is managed, governed and used across Energy Markets.
  • Collaborate with IT, Change and wider teams across Energy Markets and SSE to ensure data and dependent processes are well maintained, supported and managed in a safe and reliable way.
You have
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance priorities and work confidently both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Experience using AI-powered tools and techniques, including Microsoft Copilot, Databricks Genie, AI agents and effective prompt engineering, to accelerate analysis, improve productivity and deliver business outcomes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and accessible for both technical and non-technical colleagues.
About SSE
SSE’s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.
We do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition. This includes electricity transmission and distribution networks, onshore and offshore wind farms, hydro-electric power and flexible thermal generation. We also provide products and services for businesses and other customers.
Our investment plan will see SSE invest £33bn in critical electricity infrastructure to 2030.
SSE Energy Markets secure the energy needed to power customers' lives, while creating value for SSE. Our Energy Markets trading teams buy the fuel needed to deliver cleaner energy and sell power generated in our wind farm, hydro and thermal assets back to the markets.
Flexible benefits to fit your life
