The role

SSE Thermal have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Officer to take a leading role in managing the safety, health, and environmental compliance across our peaking plant generating stations in Rode and Tawnaghmore, with Platin also coming into scope in due course. This position will be pivotal in ensuring the safe operation of both active and under-construction facilities, while supporting regulatory obligations and internal standards.

Some of your main accountabilities will include;

  • Conducting and leading audits, risk assessments, and safety investigations, ensuring robust follow-up and documentation.
  • Supporting the Environmental Co-ordinator and contributing to emergency response planning, contractor compliance, training needs, and safety performance reporting.

To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;

  • A recognised qualification in Health & Safety Management or a related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience in a similar role.
