About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to: Perth, Glasgow, Reading, London, Belfast or Dublin.

What is the role?
The role of Assistant Company Secretary sits within SSE's Group Company Secretariat. A team which provides broad-ranging technical corporate governance and compliance support to the SSE Group, its Business Units, and range of internal functions. This position will see involvement across the full suite of services administered by the department, with a key focus being the Company Secretariat contribution to the SSE Annual Report.
SSE's Annual Report sits at the centre of its corporate reporting suite and is a document which receives significant internal focus. It is underpinned by the objective of developing transparent, cohesive, and engaging content that effectively communicates SSE's position and enhances dialogue with stakeholders. This deliverable is managed in tandem with the annual plan of Company Secretariat work and the provision of meeting services to a number of SSE's executive forums and joint ventures.
Across the above areas, key responsibilities will include:
- Corporate reporting. Playing a significant role in the delivery of the Company Secretariat contribution within SSE's Annual Report, comprising: departmental project planning; researching and advising on reporting topics; collating and analysing supporting data; and drafting innovative content which highlights SSE's approach to corporate governance, whilst maintaining compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.
- External developments. Conducting horizon scanning and impact assessments in relation to external developments – preparing written summaries and briefing notes to inform recommendations and action plans within Company Secretariat, and to raise awareness and collaboration across wider internal stakeholders and senior forums. Maintaining processes to document changes in the applicable legal and regulatory framework for Company Secretariat.
