SSE PLC are developing a regional delivery strategy aimed at creating local energy skills on the back of realising public sector growth. This role will lead the businesses public sector growth strategy and realise opportunities for SSE Energy Solutions to deploy its capital to achieve a long term return on investment in renewable and low carbon assets. Within this role, you’ll be responsible for identifying strategically significant opportunities and being the key interface with senior client stakeholders. The role holder will be responsible for the development of major national opportunities with contract values in excess of c.£500M.
This role will be primarily focused on Early-stage project development, and has responsibility for identifying and managing client requirements, stakeholders and third-party engagements (including partnering arrangements internally and externally) to shape work winning opportunities to the point of handover to delivery teams. This includes understanding key routes to market for major programs of work, proposition development, development/ implementation of practices to manage and measure effective project delivery and ownership of growth targets.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally need to:
- Possess extensive experience in developing projects from the early stages through to delivery.
- Demonstrate experience operating at a senior leadership level within the public sector energy/ utilities market, managing high value projects/ programs of work.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of project management systems and governance arrangements for development and execution of large capital projects.
- Have experience creating large project joint-venture agreements and extensive commercial negotiation exposure within matrix environments.
- Strong and demonstrable experience of preparation, negotiation and execution of complex agreements, especially in a multi contract delivery model environment with individual contract values in excess of £500M.
- Build engaged & resilient teams that are capable of creating large projects’ program of works at a regional level
- Have experience of working across the public sector and public sector type organisations.
- Communicate and manage the expectations of a range of internal and external stakeholders, at times making sure technical and commercial information is presented accurately and effectively understood by the audience.
