About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

We are looking for experienced 'Onshore' Consent Managers to join our Renewables team at SSER to support the development phase of our exciting Ossian Wind Farm -The Project — Ossian (ossianwindfarm.com) One of the world's largest floating offshore wind farms generating some 3.6GW of renewable energy. The wind farm will be located within the North Sea some 84km off the coast of Aberdeenshire and will deliver enough energy to power up to a 6 million homes annually.
- In the Consent Manager role, you'll work as part of the Ossian team to support the Lead Onshore Consents Manager in delivering the planning consents and licences required for the substantial onshore transmission infrastructure.
- You will support the management of the consenting process and support the management of consultants in delivering environmental impact assessments and habitat regulations appraisals.
- Secure the consents for vital infrastructure to enable Ossian to power homes and businesses in the UK via the UK's electrical transmission network and play a significant role in contributing to the UK's net zero ambitions.
These roles provide an excellent opportunity to work with the wider SSE Renewables offshore development and consenting teams to ensure that there is consistency in the way we develop projects across our expanding portfolio.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Experience of delivering planning consents for large scale infrastructure projects either in England or Scotland.
- Knowledgeable of Environmental Impact Assessments and associated legislation and their role within the UK consenting regime.
- Experience in either onshore or offshore consenting, likely underpinned with a qualification in a planning or environmental discipline.
- Experience of the implementation of the Habitats Directive and how it relates to consenting large scale infrastructure projects.
- A successful track record of establishing relationships and leading engagement with key stakeholders and Regulators and working within multi-disciplinary teams.
- A commercial mindset, with the ability to make challenges, limit risk and achieve solutions and ability to manage projects and form positive working relationships with external and internal technical teams.
- Knowledge of the Development Consent Order application process and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
