About the Role
Base Location: Flexible Ireland, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Kerry, Limerick, Cavan, Kildare, Wexford, Galway, Cork or Dublin.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time
As a C & I Engineer you will be focused on Operational SCADA and Control System platform management and support. This will include hardware, software, integration and commissioning support on all operational and reporting systems installed across the Onshore Fleet of Wind Farms. The position will deal with data intensive environments where reliability and accuracy are critical. You will engineer improvements thus guaranteeing uptime of the systems sourcing and capturing data. The team operates in close quarters with various departments and divisions within the wider SSE portfolio, where you would be expected to provide support when required on short notice.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A minimum Diploma qualification in either Engineering or Information Technology, accompanied by proven hands-on experience of Server Operating Hardware, Software and components. Along with knowledge of PLC operation and management.
- Due to the specialist nature of this position, the following would also be of benefit. Hands on experience of electrical/control cabinets and associated components, their configuration, testing, maintenance and associated fault finding. Extensive technical capabilities including knowledge of network topologies, data flow management and MS SQL Database experience within large corporate IT systems.
- Knowledge of Industry Cyber Security requirements, the necessary methods of implementation along with documented compliance procedures would be an advantage. Similarly with knowledge of Virtual Machine environments.
- Understanding of site wide and network communication systems including but not limited to Networking, DMR, GSM, Microwave and Satellite systems. Coupled with experience of Fibre Optics networks, their design, operation, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair techniques would be advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be essential, as will the ability to negotiate and influence across varying levels of stakeholders and manage conflict in high pressure situations. You'll also have the ability to work closely and effectively with the wider operational teams, to ensure maintenance requirements and timescales are met.
- You'll need excellent commercial awareness and an understanding of the implications of engineering activities and decisions. Being a team player with the ability to be autonomous when required is a major part of the role. It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence as remote working will be required on occasion.
