About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our Scottish sites (Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness).
Salary: circa £87k (depending on skill and experience) + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

This role is for an experienced Enterprise Architect to support the development of the technology estate that supports SSE's Transmission business. The Transmission business is undergoing a huge expansion and we need IT solutions and expertise to support that. The scope will focus on planning the transition from a limited set of solutions to a modern, cloud based, application portfolio that will bring the step change in capability our teams need. This will involve a combination of stakeholder engagement, applying knowledge of technology trends to our challenges, and influencing the IT delivery roadmap. The successful applicant will report to the Lead Architect, as part of an expanding architecture team, with the ability to influence both strategy and approach. This is a great opportunity to play a pivotal role in the transformation of SSE Transmission's systems to secure, dynamic and robust platforms that can support meeting our Net Zero targets.
Key responsibilities for this role will include:
- Analysis of the Transmission business strategies to develop the technology strategy and architecture that will meet the required outcomes.
- Keeping abreast of current technology trends and solutions in the wider market and identifying their potential fit for SSE.
- Developing architecture roadmaps that will drive the evolution of our IT landscape from current to future state.
- Collaboration with programme leads and supporting Group IT teams to plan the successful delivery of our portfolio of projects.
- Providing assurance of programme and project designs to ensure they are consistent with our business and technology strategies and aligned with our architecture roadmaps.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A structured and methodical approach to solutioning, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely at multiple levels, and the ability to lead discussions and influence stakeholders who are used to operating with less structured approaches.
- Business and technology domain knowledge from one or more of the following areas; work and asset management, construction projects, information management, data and integration, cloud.
- Experience of writing technology strategies and creating architectural roadmaps to support them.
- Active engagement with what is happening across the IT industry and the ability to apply relevant ideas to a business problem.
- Experience of working in a large programme/project environment with involvement in the full lifecycle of delivery from planning to operations.
