Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

Are you a Solicitor looking to make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector? Here's your chance to join SSE Renewables, a leading force in the world of sustainable energy, as a Senior Planning and Consenting Solicitor. This exciting opportunity will see you at the forefront of legal matters, working predominantly on planning and consenting for some of the world’s most high-profile offshore projects.
As a Senior Planning and Consenting Solicitor at SSE Renewables, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and assisting the project teams through the complex landscape of planning and consenting for projects exceeding 50MW. Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on onshore transmission infrastructure planning applications related to offshore projects.
- Formulating and progressing Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) derogation cases.
- Supporting project teams in discharging conditions and ensuring smooth progress through the development stages.
- Mentoring and guiding junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- An appropriate qualification in Scots and/or English law with relevant PQE.
- Proven experience in successfully consenting large-scale offshore projects, including ancillary consents and planning applications.
- Strong ability to manage challenging situations, conflicting expectations, and diverse clients.
- Knowledge of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and awareness of environmental challenges.
- Previous experience in mentoring junior team members and contributing to team knowledge base.
