We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Credit Risk team. Our credit team fosters strong relationships with bilateral counterparties, leveraging SSE’s strong credit credentials and independently assessing counterparty credit worthiness. The team supports the route to market hedging of SSE generation and demand whilst providing objective credit risk analysis and recommendations to Group Finance.
You will be responsible for supporting the Head of Credit Risk in ensuring appropriate counterparty and regulatory relationship limits are in place. You will undertake a key role in the business as part of a team who is responsible for credit risk management and reporting, credit risk analysis and the complex modelling of credit exposures associated with SSE’s diverse portfolio of assets.
The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will act as a senior analytical leader within the team focusing primarily on ensuring EM and Group have a clear and evolving strategic framework. They will be a deputy for the Head of Credit Risk in these areas and act as a mentor to the more junior Credit Risk Analysts in the team.
Your Responsibilities will include:
You will undertake a key role in the business as part of a team responsible for credit risk management and reporting, credit risk analysis and the complex modelling of credit exposures associated with SSE’s diverse portfolio of assets.
You will provide an underwriting function to support route to market for existing physical assets (thermal power stations, gas storage, renewables assets), new asset opportunities, and nonstandard bilateral contracts (PPAs, swing contracts, index contracts, spreads, weather derivatives).
You will be comfortable with big data and demonstrate a flair for creating innovative solutions to meet changing needs and requirements.
As a senior member of the team you will play an important part in fostering a culture of innovation and improvement, helping generate ideas and seeing them brought to fruition. You will work closely with the Head of Credit, assisting with identifying the priorities of the team and ensuring they are being met, and acting in a deputising capacity when necessary.
What do I need?
We are looking for someone who will play a leading role in supporting the business by providing robust credit rating assessment, portfolio monitoring/rating reviews, and rating methodology expertise.
We would love you to have:
- Experience of working in a independent opinion on the creditworthiness of transactions.
- Proven experience of using a combination of internal and external sources to recommend credit ratings to internal committees.
- Portfolio monitoring and review, working with origination to ensure information flow, providing annual and ad hoc creditworthiness reviews.
- Proactive contribution to internal rating procedures, demonstration of best practice, internal and external rating approach benchmarking. Develop and support control methodologies, templates, and working tools.
- Problem solving and mathematical modelling of credit exposures inherent in wholesale energy markets.
- Professional qualifications such as the PRM, CFA, or ERP/FRM from the Global Association of Risk Professionals would also be advantageous.
- You should have financial and credit analysis experience, . Experience of managing due diligence processes and running meetings. Transactional knowledge and demonstrating highly analytical skills with strong Microsoft Excel ability will enable you to distil complex information and communicate on a variety of levels.
- You will be comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders both internal and external and demonstrate your ability to build strong working relationships.
