What is the Role?
As Lead Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and managing Transmission IT's data architecture.
This role is critical in establishing a solid foundation for data analytics and data management, ensuring that data is organised, accessible, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
Key responsibilities for the role will include:
- Provides an overall perspective on data architecture to support business issues, events and activities, and understand their wider implications and long-term impact. This could include determining patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements.
- Performs the design authority role on projects ensuring that the detailed designs and solutions delivered align to the solution data architecture, managing and resolving any design issues as they arise. Work closely with applications/integration team to ensure integrations adhere to standards and are appropriately documented.
- Designs the structure and layout of data systems, including databases, warehouses, and lakes, while also assessing the impact of business change requests on the existing data architecture and support the prioritisation of these changes.
- Translates high-level business requirements into data models and appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards.
- Own the Target Data Architecture and definition and maintenance of standards (the Technical Reference Model).
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Experience leading or playing a critical role in projects involving data warehousing, data modelling, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in the design and implementation of modern data architectures and concepts such as cloud services (Azure preferred), real-time data distribution (Kafka, Dataflow), and modern data warehouse tools (Snowflake, Databricks).
- Experience with database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop and other equivalents, and understanding of entity-relationship modelling, metadata systems, and data quality tools and techniques.
- Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions and recommendations to business needs and client culture, synthesising and clearly communicating large volumes of complex information to a wide range of roles and understanding levels.
- Ability to collaborate and excel in complex, cross-functional teams involving data scientists, business analysts, and stakeholders.
