SSE's Solar and Battery Storage team is one of the fastest growing parts of SSE Group with an exciting multi-GW pipeline of projects in train and has recently joined SSE Renewables. In order to accelerate progress towards net zero SSE Group is investing £7m a day on low carbon infrastructure, creating 1,000 green jobs a year in the process, as part of its £23bn NZAP (Net Zero Acceleration Programme). About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.
Salary: £45,400 - £68,200 / €64,000 - €96,000 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As our Grid Compliance Manager, you will lead on the grid code compliance process for our large pipeline of solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. Your knowledge of the grid code compliance process will enable you to enact the role of Subject Matter Expert providing detailed, specialist knowledge and direction to SSE Solar & Battery Development, Delivery and Asset Management Teams on Grid Code Compliance ensuring we deliver to a high quality and on time.
Providing support and understanding of the energy market, transmission, and distribution codes, balancing and settlement codes and REMIT Regulations, you will play a crucial role in driving and increasing our success, and in doing so, drive our business growth.
Key accountabilities may include:
- Ensuring the portfolio of Solar and Battery assets are developed in-line with Grid Code and Bilateral Connection Agreement requirements.
- Engaging with the Team to ensure the relevant Grid Code Compliance requirements are understood, incorporated and applications submitted accordingly.
- Process documentation.
- Keeping abreast of any policy changes and their applicability.
- Interfacing with other parts of SSE, regulators and external bodies.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Demonstrable experience of project management in the energy sector.
- Working knowledge of the Grid Code Compliance process, Balancing & Settlement Code and Connection & Use of System Code Compliance is essential.
- Knowledge of ELEXON system and associated codes.
- Good working knowledge and application of industry standard project process, governance, risk and control concepts.
- You will be a highly motivated individual with effective written and spoken communication skills. You will have a flexible approach that lends itself to collaborating with colleagues and customers at a high level.
