About the Role
Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Reading or London
Salary: starting from £24,000 (reviewed annually) + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.
Start date: September 2024
Working Pattern: Full Time | Flexible working options available
Travel Requirements: as part of this role, you may be required to travel to another office location or relocate to another office for a period of time, depending on business need and in order to give you breadth of experience (covered by our expense policy). This will be discussed with you during the selection process.
What is the Role?
As a Solicitor Apprentice you'll support on some of the most exciting energy projects in the world as part of our General Counsel Team.
On-the-job learning
We’ll provide you with a broad range of practical and specialised training and support, where you’ll be closely supported and mentored by our friendly and professional team. We have a variety of specialisms within our team covering many areas of law such as: commercial, company, energy, property, construction, disputes and litigation, data protection, and competition and regulatory. Throughout your journey, we will provide you with exposure to diverse areas of law and the opportunity to work across our varied SSE businesses.
Industry leading training
Through our fully funded, bespoke training programme you’ll study towards a LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice and Skills which is delivered by the University of Law. You’ll spend one day per week studying a range of legal foundation subjects and coursework grounded in English Law. In Years 5 and 6 you’ll undertake the Solicitor’s Qualifying Exams (SQE), enabling you to become a fully qualified solicitor.
What to expect
As you develop your knowledge and experience, you’ll provide legal advice and support to the SSE Group to ensure legal compliance, and help the group to understand, minimise and mitigate legal risks across its operations. You'll be involved in document drafting, conducting due diligence, property and consenting, disputes, projects client meetings and negotiation.
