About the Role
Base Location: Perth
Salary: £55,573 - £63,643 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + Shift Allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time
As Schedule and Dispatch Engineer, you'll be accountable for managing and maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the Hydro Generation fleet in adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Some of your main accountabilities will include.
- Managing generation output, effectively maximising value and minimising loss for the business.
- Produce a strategic operating schedule for our hydro generators.
- Act as the control point for all interactions with National Grid as required under the Grid Code.
- Dispatch power from hydro generators in accordance with changing situations such as weather events, plant breakdown, network reconfiguration, failure, or disruption.
- Ensure that all operations, decision making and actions relating to the day to day operating of the Hydro generation fleet has no detrimental effect on People, the Environment, Assets or Reputation (PEAR) of SSE.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Hydro schemes and Hydro Power Station plant characteristics.
- A degree level qualification in an engineering or science discipline, or to HNC level with demonstrable relevant experience.
- Experience of generating plant and/or HV systems.
- A flexible approach and the willingness to work shifts to meet the 24/7 operational requirements.
- A understanding of the Energy market and Balancing mechanism.
- Strong attention to detail and self-motivation, with the ability to manage your own workloads.
