Job Purpose

Vaultex are currently undertaking a large transformation programme to ensure our business is fit for the future. As part of the transformation we are seeking a Developer with a focus on Business Intelligence to support the development of high-quality systems that are critical to business stakeholders. The BI Developer will work as part of a collaborative development team, using modern tools and practices to deliver more reliable, user-focused applications that align with our development standards and business needs. An understanding of business requirements, strong attention to detail, and the ability to contribute to user experience design and technical solutions are essential.

This role also involves providing first-line support for developed applications, identifying and addressing issues, and contributing to continuous improvement. A proactive approach to knowledge sharing and a commitment to quality are key, as our systems play a vital role in processing over £160 billion annually.

Main responsibilities

  • Leading the design and build of BI solutions, BI Development, Deployment and Maintenance.
  • The upkeep and assistance with data analytics platform.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Transform business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Team to develop end to end best practices
  • Provide 3rd line support during BI related high priority incidents. Conduct troubleshooting and testing of the BI systems.
  • Build and maintain the data warehouse infrastructure ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Optimise queries, data models, ETL processes to improve performance and reduce processing time.
  • Turns innovative ideas into effective solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in BI and Data Analytics.


Knowledge, skills and experience required:

Technical - data focused developer with the following skills:

  • Excellent SQL skills.
  • Microsoft BI and Power BI experience
  • Creating, developing, and modifying dashboards.
  • Strong experience and knowledge around data warehousing
  • Experience with large datasets and data models.
  • A love for problem solving.
  • A drive to continuously improve existing processes.
  • Confidence in bringing ideas to the team and key stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of data governance, data protection, and GDPR.
  • Great organisational skills and experience in Azure DevOps or JIRA desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills to Exec level.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, alongside evolving the data technology stack and practices.

Ways of Working and Tooling:

  • Experience of agile development practices as part of a delivery squad/cell
  • Experience and/or appreciation of agile project management software; e.g. Jira, Azure Devops
  • Experience of Git based version control systems
